岩园贞义（竹中直人 饰）是一名住在群居公寓里、相貌平平的公司小职员，早年感情曾受伤害，因此希望得到一份身心合一的完美爱情。某夜岩园劫持了慢跑的高中女生桦岛邦子（小岛圣 饰），本以为将遭受强暴的桦岛却受到岩园的殷勤对待，岩园表达了自己的想法，遭到的却是一阵痛骂。随着相处时间增长，两人的关系却日渐和谐。在温泉旅行中，桦岛放弃逃跑的机会，回到岩园身边，两人开始以叔侄身份公开出入公寓，在房间里尽情享受鱼水之欢。不久东窗事发，岩园甘愿接受制裁，桦岛则称这一切都是两厢情愿。改编自松田美智子的报告文学作品——《女子高校生诱拐饲育事件》，取材自真实事件。

In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
