But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present.　　Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.

没钱没爱还没心没肺的马腾（林更新 饰）人近中年一事无成，是旁人眼里公认的“废柴”！钢厂退休骨干老林（李幼斌 饰）遵守铁打的纪律活了一辈子本该安享晚年，身体和心理却双双“亮起红灯”！本无生活交集的两人因为一场歪打正着的护工面试相遇，展开了一段啼笑皆非的有趣互救。老林为求解脱，将“协助自杀”的希望寄托在这个不靠谱的护工身上。马腾虽然想赚钱完成女儿的心愿，但无胆害命，只能发挥自己的乐观心态在日常中提供情绪价值给老林。二人在一段特殊的旅途中建立起生死友谊，于病痛与死亡的阴影里找到了活下去的小小微光，携手大胆迎接未知的生活。
